Driving Routes

From La Grande, Oregon

  • take I-84 east bound to North Powder exit 285
  • turn right at off ramp stop sign on to Powder River Road (19 miles to the ski area)
  • this road will wind through the farm land making a 90 degree left and turning into Ellis Road
  • at the stop sign turn right onto Anthony Lake Highway. At this point you are pointed west directly at the Elkhorn Mountains
  • this route will wind its way up the mountain (approx. 10 miles) to the Anthony Lakes Ski Area parking lot at 7,100 feet.

From Baker City

  • take I-84 west bound to North Powder exit 285
  • same as above La Grande route

From La Grande, Oregon

  • take I-84 east bound to North Powder exit 285
  • turn right at off ramp stop sign on to Powder River Road (19 miles to the ski area)

Alternative Routes

From La Grande via Piles Canyon
 

  • Oregon highway 203 south to Union; stay on Main street as it becomes OR highway 237 to North Powder (16 miles from Union to North Powder)
  • go forward under the I-84 freeway and onto Powder River Road (19 miles to the ski area)
  • same as La Grande route

From Baker City via Haines
 

  • highway 30 N. (10th St. turns into hwy. 30) to Haines
  • turn left onto the Anthony Lake Highway, across the railroad tracks and out of town
  • the Anthony Lakes Highway will take a 90 degree corner to the right, two "s" corners, and a 90 degree corner to the left before facing you toward the Elkhorn Mountains and on up the mountain
     

From La Grande via Piles Canyon
