Anthony Lakes sends out a very special Thank You for the past 7 years of service George Roach has given to the Mountain as an instructor and most recently as the Director of the Learning Center. Throughout George’s professional career he always found time (and a mountain) where he could share his knowledge, skills and passion for skiing; where he could “pass on” that knowledge, especially to young children.
George’s passion for the mountain experience and the education of youth in a snowsport was evident in his daily interactions with staff and customers alike. His lifetime of passion for skiing could be seen on his face and heard in his words as he went through his days, on or off the mountain, which touched the lives of many over the years. Simply, George has exemplified the best that the Mountain has to offer.
Our friend George Roach passed away on Friday, 6 April 2012. He turned 79 on March 31st, which marked his 70th year as a skier. He will truly be missed by Anthony Lakes and those who visit.
In celebration of George’s commitment to snow sports, and especially young people, the Anthony Lakes Board of Directors established the George Roach Snow Sport Scholarship Fund. Our intent is to provide scholarships to up to 30 students in the 2012-13 season who otherwise would not be able to participate in their schools’ ski programs. Scholarships in the amount of $100 will cover rental equipment, lift tickets and lessons for eight weeks.
To contribute to the George Roach Snow Sport Scholarship Fund, please make your check payable to Baker County Developement Corporation. In the memo line note: George’s Scholarship Fund. All donations are tax deductible (503c1). Please send your donation to:
